After deadly tornadoes hit Middle Tennessee on March 3, 2021, The Equity Alliance sprung into action and mobilized 600+ volunteers to clean up North Nashville and check on our neighbors. The area is the last stronghold of historically Black neighborhoods in the city and was among the hardest areas hit. 

Recognizing the unfortunate opportunity for predatory lending and rapid gentrification, we partnered with disaster experts, attorneys, real estate developers, and banking and insurance professionals to help residents make informed decisions about how to resolve their property damage and loss. We engaged over 300 homeowners to urge them to #DontSellOutNorf. 

We raised more than $75,000 to provide direct cash assistance to 125 families to meet their needs through gift cards, gas cards, and rent assistance.
